This creates an environment conducive to the growth of a fairly common bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes). Inflammation is a frequent reaction to bacterial infection, giving the pimple its &#8220;angry-red&#8221; and swollen appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teenagers frequently get pimples due to the high levels of androgen hormones such as testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate produced by both sexes.
