Children under the age of two will remain exempt from the obligation to wear a mask.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">American will begin requiring customers with disabilities who are unable to wear a mask to inform the airline&#8217;s Special Assistance team at least 72 hours ahead of departure to obtain an exception from the rule on Feb. 2, 2021. Exemptions will need documentation from a licensed health care professional, as well as confirmation of a negative COVID-19 test performed within three calendar days of departure or proof of COVID-19 recovery. Additionally, American will revise its criteria on approved mask styles to include bandanas and gaiters as prohibited items.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Individuals who refuse to wear a mask in accordance with US government regulations may be refused to board, removed from the flight, or subject to federal law fines, in addition to being prohibited from future <a href=\"http:\/\/lavyon.com\/hawaii-considers-reintroduction-of-stricter-covid-19-travel-restrictions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">travel<\/a> with Americans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>American Airlines is revising its current mask requirement to comply with CDC and Transportation Security Administration guidelines and a White House executive order on coronavirus (COVID-19) safety while flight.
