InterContinental Downtown Los Angeles
Start your trip on a high note—literally. The InterContinental Downton Los Angeles hotel is in the largest building on the West Coast, and the lobby is located on the 70th floor. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows give you panoramic view of the city, which you can soak up while lounging on cozy modern furniture. There’s a reason this hotel describes itself as elevated.

The entire design of the InterContinental Miami hotel is centered around Henry Moore’s “The Spindle” sculpture, and nowhere is that more obvious than in the lobby, where the 18-foot, 70-ton sculpture—the largest in the state of Florida—sits front and center. It was actually flown into the lobby space by helicopter, and the rest of the property was built around it. Add to that the beautiful design of the lobby with Italian marble walls and African wood accents, and you’ve got yourself one artistic space.

Would you believe this used to be a hospital? After a massive renovation—the largest private restoration effort in France in the past decade—it’s now the beautiful five-star InterContinental Lyon hotel, whose design takes inspiration from Lyon’s Silk Road history.
InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland
Built into the side of a quarry, the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is the world’s first subterranean hotel. Its lobby leans into the underground, industrial roots with exposed beams, miners’ lamps, scattered rocks, and a faux waterfall. A wall in the lobby emulates the look of a natural cliff face, and toned lighting creates a ripple effect that evokes a serene feeling of being underwater.
Hotel Indigo Williamsburg–Brooklyn
Located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of New York, a neighborhood once best known for its sugar refining and coffee roasting, Hotel Indigo Williamsburg features decor inspired by vintage sugar and coffee packaging. It pairs this with contemporary architecture and interior design to play off the mix of industrial warehouse and art studio surroundings.
