Director Victor Vu and his wife, actress Dinh Ngoc Diep, attended the US premiere to share their passion about “Detective Kien: The Headless Horror” with the audience.
On May 29, 2025, director Victor Vu’s film, “Detective Kien: The Headless Horror,” officially premiered in the United States. This began its global release across more than 200 theaters in the US, Canada, and 10 European countries, including Germany, the UK, Scotland, France, Poland, Norway, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Sweden.
The US premiere saw a special appearance by one of Vietnamese cinema’s most beloved couples: director Victor Vu and his wife, actress Dinh Ngoc Diep. The event also drew many famous Vietnamese artists living abroad, such as supermodel Ngoc Quyen, comedian Thuy Nga, and singer Phung Ngoc Huy, alongside thousands of Vietnamese audience members who traveled from various states to attend and show their support.
“Detective Kien: The Headless Horror” is Victor Vu’s latest work in the psychological thriller and horror genre, following a string of successful films like “Scandal: Red Carpet Secret,” “Scandal: Aura Returns,” “Blood Heart,” and “The Guardian Angel.”
Set in a mysterious ancient period, the film follows Detective Kien, portrayed by actor Quoc Huy, as he investigates gruesome murders with hints of the supernatural and feudal conspiracy theories. The movie also features other prominent names in Vietnamese cinema, including Dinh Ngoc Diep as Hai Man, Quoc Anh as Thac, Anh Pham as Tuyet, Minh Anh as Nga, Meritorious Artist Xuan Trang as Quan Liem, and People’s Artist My Uyen as Mrs. Vuong.
Before its international debut, the film had already created a buzz at the domestic box office, earning over 100 billion Vietnamese dong and receiving numerous accolades from critics for its storytelling, meticulous visuals, impressive soundtrack, and strong performances from the cast.
