Fabrica – Italian Textile and Innovation Exhibition officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City

The exhibition Fabrica – Italian Textile and Innovation by The Consulate General of Italy, in collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam was inaugurated on Thursday 13 June at 10 am at the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City. It will be opened to the public from 13 June to 20 June 2024.

The Asian tour of the exhibition “FABRICA. Italian Textile and Innovation” continues in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition is conceived by the agency CMS Cultura, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Fashion Industry Business Federation- “Sistema Moda Italia”, the Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers “ACIMIT”, and the Italian Organization of Crafts and Small-Medium Enterprises – “Confartigianato Imprese”.

The “FABRICA” exhibition is an artistic, visual, and tactile journey, depicting the history and evolution of Italian textile manufacturing through a series of panels and various interactive installations, realized by a network of over twenty companies in the sector. The exhibition documents the richness and variety of Italian production, offering the public a multi-sensory experience. From fashion fabrics, materials in interior design, and sportswear fibers to sustainable fibers, these elements are showcased in six sections:

  1. The history of the Italian textile industry
  2. Fabrics are used in garments
  3. Fabrics are used in interior design
  4. Fabric materials enhance performance
  5. Production techniques
  6. Textiles and the environment

On this occasion, pilot-size machines created by students from HCMC University of Technology (HCMCUT) are also displayed. These machines are part of the collaborative project of the Italy-Vietnam Textile Technology Center, officially launched on November 29, 2017.

This exhibition marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the establishment of the Italian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, from 2014 to 2024. It is also part of the program for the 2024 Vietnam International Fashion Week (VIFW), contributing to the event on behalf of the Italian Consulate General.
