Consular Club International Charity Bazaar 2024 Raises 1.5 Billion VND

The Consular Club International Charity Bazaar marked its 28th year in HCMC today November 9, celebrating its 30 years of charitable work across southern Vietnam.

Held at the Global City residential area in An Phu, Thu Duc City, the event attracted nearly 100 vendors from 15 countries, offering various products, food, beverages, and cultural performances.

The Consular Club raised an incredible 1.5 billion VND (approx. USD 60,000) for Southern Vietnamese charities at its International Bazaar held at the Global City on Saturday 9 November.

The remarkable result was the culmination of a vibrant event that saw crowds of people come to shop from the 100 vendors, purchasing items and enjoying delicious cuisine from around the globe.

Speaking to LAVYON, Suzanna Lubran, executive director of Newborns Vietnam, explained how the bazaar’s earnings will go toward providing healthcare workers with training scholarships. “This event helps provide scholarships for physicians, nurses, and midwives from remote areas so they can train with international instructors in neonatal resuscitation,” Lubran stated.

With the ultimate goal of enhancing newborn care in underprivileged areas, the scholarships cover travel, lodging, training materials, and course fees.

“Achieving this result for our life-changing charities is a wonderful way to celebrate the Consular Club’s 30th anniversary here in HCMC,” says Ms Padula. “We’ve been making an impact for 30 years and if the International Charity Bazaar is anything to go by, we’re only going to continue to achieve greater outcomes for the charities we support.”

Founded in 1994, the Consular Club is a non-political, non-profit organization that brings together international and Vietnamese representatives from consular missions in HCMC. The club fosters collaboration between the diplomatic and private sectors to support local charities, with a strong commitment to promoting gender equality, and sustainability, and improving the lives of vulnerable communities in southern Vietnam.
