In a reflective year-end conversation with LAVYON, celebrated film producer Alan Vo Ford shared his inspiring journey through the milestones of 2024 and his ambitious vision for the future.
A Year of Achievements
LAVYON: Mr. Ford, could you highlight some of your key accomplishments in 2024?
Alan Vo Ford: This year has been extraordinary, marked by accomplishments I hold dear. I successfully completed and premiered Fragile Flower in multiple countries. Additionally, I founded two major nonprofit organizations: the Homeless Cities Foundation, which is spearheading the creation of the first city for homeless individuals in the U.S., and the Vietnam Community and Museum Foundation, dedicated to establishing a Vietnamese community center and museum in Little Saigon, Orange County.
I also celebrated milestones as the founder of the Hollywood Film Festival and the 10th anniversary of the Asian World Film Festival. Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about forthcoming projects, including films on the TrÆ°ng Sisters, Father TrÆ°Æ¡ng Bá»u Diệp, and Vietnam’s 4,000-year journey with rice.

LAVYON: Reflecting on 2024, what makes you most proud? What challenges have you faced?
Alan Vo Ford: Witnessing my dreams materialize has been profoundly rewarding. However, my greatest challenge is maintaining balance while nurturing the growth of these diverse projects, ensuring each one receives the attention it deserves.
Plans for 2025
LAVYON: What major plans or goals do you have for the coming year?
Alan Vo Ford: I intend to continue advancing my current projects while also launching new real estate and film ventures.
LAVYON: Do you have any significant film projects planned for 2025?
Alan Vo Ford: Absolutely. I’ll focus on four major films that delve into historical and cultural narratives. Additionally, I aim to elevate the Hollywood Film Festival to rival the world’s most prestigious cinematic events.
International Collaborations and Investments
LAVYON: Can you offer a glimpse into your latest international film investment?
Alan Vo Ford: This initiative represents a pivotal step for the Hollywood Film Festival, fostering collaborations with some of the world’s most talented filmmakers.
LAVYON: What do you enjoy most about working with international teams? Are there any challenges?
Alan Vo Ford: I’m invigorated by their creativity and unique perspectives. However, navigating cultural and professional differences remains a consistent challenge.
LAVYON: How about Vietnamese filmmakers? Do you have plans to collaborate with them?
Alan Vo Ford: Absolutely. I’m already partnering with two production companies in Vietnam to bring historical and cultural stories to the screen.
Community and Social Initiatives
LAVYON: Could you update us on your senior housing project?
Alan Vo Ford: We’ve completed over 3,000 housing units in California and are actively expanding with new developments.
LAVYON: And your homeless city initiative — can you elaborate?
Alan Vo Ford: This cause is deeply personal. With a nearly $80 billion budget, the project is designed to support over 584,000 homeless individuals across the U.S., creating transformative change.
