Child sexual abuse is on the rise due to COVID-19

From the slums of the Philippines to the suburbs of Australia, crime has sprouted like mushrooms, when they take advantage of social restrictions and schools close to reach and seduce children directly or through social networking sites.

In Australia, the federal police received more than 21,000 reports of child sexual abuse cases in the 12 months as of June 30, an increase of more than 7,000 cases over the same period. The country also recorded a 136% increase in the number of cases of child sexual abuse online.

Child sexual abuse is on the rise due to COVID-19

The Philippines recorded a 260% increase in online child molestation from March to May – when the country was imposing strict restrictions on it.
