On the evening of October 2, 2024, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and commemorating the 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will organize the Meeting “Mahatma Gandhi – The Great National Hero of India”. The Meeting is dedicated to offering a unique opportunity for Vietnamese and Indian communities to gain a deeper understanding of Mahatma Gandhi as well as his contribution to India.
At the event, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi – Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City commemorated Mahatma Gandhi’s contributions in many fields, from politics to economics, social reform, and environment, etc. besides his leadership role in the Indian independence movement.
According to him, Mahatma Gandhi’s influence has been recognized by many world leaders, especially the United Nations General Assembly chose Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday as the International Day of Non-Violence, recognizing the universality of the principle of non-violence with the spirit of tolerance and understanding.
At the event, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City also organized an exhibition of paintings entitled “A Life of Mahatma Gandhi”. The Consul General also showed a short video about the life of this hero.
On this occasion, the Consulate General also awarded prizes to individuals with outstanding achievements in the Writing Contest “Mahatma Gandhi – The Great National Hero Of India” organized by the Consulate General.
