The testers, which were developed in collaboration with French beauty tech start-up verie, which specializes in smart devices, micro-dosing, and diffusion technologies, transfer a single droplet of fragrance to an arm or a blotter without the need for consumers to touch anything.

Additionally, Coty argues that the gadget provides a variety of other benefits in addition to addressing health and safety concerns about the hygiene of the in-store environment in response to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. A single droplet of scent, for example, is less intrusive than typical spray testers, which “oversaturate the air, overpowering the senses and surrounding surroundings,” according to a study published in the journal Nature. It also helps to prevent scent loss, which helps to extend the life of tester bottles.

They also enable Coty to use data in conjunction with retailers in order to improve tester placement and customer experience. The devices are compatible with all of Coty’s fragrance testers and can be customized to each of the group’s brands, according to the company.

A breakthrough invention created in collaboration with very, Coty’s touch-less fragrance tester is described as follows: With the return of in-person shopping, the health and safety of our customers is always at the forefront of our thoughts,” stated Claire Catherine-Mercier, Coty’s vice president for retail experience, in a release. Using a single drop of liquid applied to the skin with the same restitution as traditional testers, this innovative technique minimizes waste and provides a safe, non-contact option for testing.

In an effort to make the product testing experience more sanitary for customers, Coty’s hands-free fragrance testers are the latest in a growing number of technological advancements that have been brought to brick-and-mortar beauty retail in recent months. Virtual make-up try-on tools, in particular, have been gaining popularity in real retail settings recently.

Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chloé, Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Marc Jacobs are among the fragrance names included in Coty’s fragrance collection.
