COVID-19 infection in the community is widespread in Cambodia

On the morning of December 1, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia announced it had detected 3 more positive cases for COVID-19. Specifically, 3 people infected with the new SARS-CoV-2 virus in the community, including 2 women and a 7-month-old child. All are in the capital Phnom Penh. The Cambodian Ministry of Health tested nearly 5,000 people on November 29 and November 30.

Currently the total number of COVID-19-positive people associated with this latest infection in the community has risen to 17.

Earlier, on the morning of November 29, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia announced that 6 people in a family in this country were infected with COVID-19, although there was no history of traveling abroad. This is the first case of COVID-19 infection in the community in Cambodia and is assessed as quite serious. Then, on the morning of November 30, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia discovered 8 more people infected with COVID-19 from this outbreak.

On the afternoon of November 30, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen instructed the authorities of Phnom Penh capital and Siem Riep province to close all schools, suspend all activities that gather more than 20 people to control the COVID- 19.

As of the evening of November 30, Cambodia has tested for about 4,000 people directly and indirectly related to the infected person. According to the notice of the Ministry of Health of Cambodia, all people identified as F1 and F2 must be tested 3 times.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen decided to disburse nearly $ 300,000 to fund localities to quarantine those identified as F1 and F2, thereby ensuring that quarantine is strictly implemented.
