Bad pregnancy journey because of COVID-19

Dilara Ozkan is one of the pregnant women here. She is in the 7th month of pregnancy when she has COVID-19. She shared this was a terrible thing that she could not imagine.

“I did not believe it was this bad. I used to think that even if I got sick I could get better easily,” said Dilara Ozkan.

Dilara was in a very bad condition right now when she could not walk, and had difficulty breathing. This was bad for not only Dilara herself, but also for her soon-to-be-born baby.

The days after birth were so sad

7 days old, all the newborn babies at this hospital in Istanbul feel is the patting, the care of nurses, doctors, through a medical rubber glove, Not the warmth of the mother’s hand. The baby’s mother is still in the ICU intensive care unit because she has COVID-19.

Munevver Karadeniz gave birth to a baby and still has mild symptoms of COVID-19. The doctors still allowed her to stay close and breastfeed her baby. Before that, Ms. Munevver did not know she had COVID-19, until she went to the operating table to give birth. This time she gave birth, she did not have any husband or relatives around to encourage and support. So, even though she has successfully delivered the baby now, she still has a lot of confidence and worries.
