Five million Australians will be vaccinated with Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine next year

The lives of people around the world including Australia will be able to return to normal soon after the experimental Covid-19 vaccine from the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer is licensed for use. The success of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine trial also means that 5 million Australians will have access to the vaccine from the beginning of next year.

This upbeat news spread on the morning of November 10, Global health experts welcomed the breakthrough development in the study of the Covid-19 vaccine research by Pfizer pharmaceutical company and German biotechnology company BioNTech after the release of the two companies. The report confirmed that their experimental vaccine had a protective effect of over 90%. The vaccine is capable of protecting over 90% is a major breakthrough because before that, the World Health Organization and many reputable health experts only hope that Covid-19 vaccines are being tested. the world can only have 50% protection.

Currently this vaccine is being tested in 6 countries around the world with the participation of nearly 43,600 volunteers. After the vaccination, some volunteers had symptoms such as fever and soreness for several days but did not report serious side effects. BioNTech CEO, Mr. Ugur Sahin believes the company’s vaccine is capable of protecting against the Covid-19 pandemic for at least 1 year. Pfizer said it will deliver 50 million doses of the vaccine to the market this year and another 1.3 billion doses by 2021.

Last week, the Australian government signed an agreement to order 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine co-developed by Pfizer with its partner BioNTech and another 40 million doses from the US biotechnology company Novavax. Previously, Australia had reached an agreement to buy nearly 85 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine from the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the University of Queensland. Hitherto, Australia has signed four agreements to buy nearly 135 million doses of vaccine at a cost of up to 3.2 billion AUD
to ensure free vaccine coverage for all citizens and to assist 27 other countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic.
