The International Police Organization Interpol recently warned EU member states about the risk of fake Covid-19 vaccines when international criminal organizations were planning to bring the fake Covid-19 vaccine to the market.

In a recent statement, Interpol Secretary-General Jürgen Stock said, while countries are preparing to roll out licensed Covid-19 vaccinations, criminal organizations are also planning to infiltrate or circumvent supply chain with fake vaccines.

An official representative of Interpol said that in addition to mixing fake Covid-19 vaccines, criminal organizations are also planning to distribute fake SARS-CoV-2 virus test kits. Mr. Jürgen Stock said that the only protective and preventive measure currently is to strictly control the production stages and the process of supplying Covid-19 vaccine to customers. Because the target of criminal networks is not only doctors, medical facilities or other organizations, but also includes unsuspecting citizens.

To date, Interpol’s anti-crime units have discovered about 3,000 websites that specialize in providing drugs and medical-related products. Among them are many websites identified by criminal organizations impersonating certified manufacturers and distributors.

With 194 member countries, Interpol is the largest police organization in the world. Many countries have adopted this organization to exchange wanted information as well as to report on organized crime.
