After winning her first Emmy last year for her role in the HBO dramedy’s initial season, which was set at a five-star hotel in Hawaii, Jennifer Coolidge has now been recognized with the award for best supporting actress in a limited series. She has spent nearly three decades in films and television, with credits that include “American Pie,” “Best in Show,” and “Legally Blonde,” but it is for “The White Lotus” that she has garnered the most critical acclaim.

Immediately afterward, Coolidge thanked the writers and directors who had given her opportunities to act throughout the years, including Ryan Murphy, Michael Patrick King, and Reese Witherspoon. She did, however, save most of her time to laud Mike White, offering a passionate speech accented occasionally by foul language that brought the “White Lotus” showrunner to tears.

In her speech, she shared, “I just want you all to know that I had such big dreams and expectations as a younger person, but what happened was they get sort of fizzle by life or whatever and I thought I was gonna be queen of Monaco, even though someone else did it, but I had these giant ideas and then you get older and it’s just not happening.”

The second season of the HBO original “The White Lotus,” one of five shows (including “Dahmer,” “The Crown,” “Pam & Tommy,” and “Only Murders in the Building”) to receive four Golden Globe nominations, won twice at Golden Globes 2023.

Jennifer Coolidge may also be seen on Netflix in the horror-comedy “We Have a Ghost,” which is set to release later this year, and the Ryan Murphy series “The Watcher.” In “Legally Blonde 3,” she will also return to the character of Paulette, Reese Witherspoon’s best friend.
