Tianna Jones, 23, was charged with child abuse after the death of her 3-year-old daughter Delilah. The baby was found unresponsive inside Tianna’s car after she ran out of the house to play while her mother was sleeping on August 30. The temperature in the car was 38 degrees Celsius.
After waking up and not seeing a daughter, Jones called the police.
The police report clearly stated that the young mother had slept all day because of the night before joining a party and taking drugs. While authorities searched around her home in Phoenix, Arizona, Tianna discovered that the car keys were gone.
“Our agents walked over to Mrs. Jones’s car and looked inside then saw that little Delilah was unconscious,” said Mercedes Fortune Police Sergeant.
Baby Delilah was taken to the hospital but it was too late.
Tianna said her daughter had run out of the house several times due to a faulty door latch. The baby was said to have climbed into the car and was stuck inside for more than four hours before his mother woke up to look for it. The police report clearly stated that this mother had been deprived of the right to care for her child several times because of indifference and lack of attention to her young child.
