“During my childhood, from the Walnut Creek suburbs of California, I watched the rolling hills and valleys, along with the houses on the road,” she said. Back then, we kids thought they were the most boring houses in the world. Photo: Mimi Plumb.
“At the age of 13, we wore gray jeans, tight white T-shirts, and long straight hair that parted in the middle. We wander through the streets, dreaming of the day we can fly to see the big world”, said the photographer. Photo: Mimi Plumb.
Growing up under the shadow of Mount Diablo in the 1960s, photographer Mimi Plumb has an obsession with the skies. This book is a response to the author’s childhood memories. Photo: Mimi Plumb.
At the same time, it also shows a sense of regret about things that are gradually changing here. “The drought land I captured in the 1970s is burning today, with 28 major fires across the state. When I looked out my window in Berkeley, California, the sky was orange”. Photo: Mimi Plumb.
“Climate change is going strong, destroying many wild natural landscapes. The images I’ve seen are now only memories, ” Mimi pityed. Photo: Mimi Plumb.
