It is expected that on November 19, the warning level in Tokyo will be raised from level 3 or “the epidemic begins to spread” to level 4, to the highest level “the epidemic is spreading”. The Tokyo government has lowered the warning level from its highest level to current levels on September 10.

Tokyo is currently the largest epidemic zone in Japan with more than 35,000 cases of Covid-19. As of November 17, the average number of new cases in the week was 309.9, close to the level at the beginning of August.

There are now 42 cases in serious condition, the highest number since the pandemic emergency was lifted at the end of May. Meanwhile, after days the number of new infections rose to a record, the province Hokkaido has asked people in Sapporo city to restrict leaving their homes. Experts believe that this could be the third wave of infections in Japan./.
