Why has the United States not been able to control the COVID-19 epidemic?

In March, when the pandemic first broke out, New York was known only as the heart of the United States and raged mainly in the East Coast states near New York. This time, the pandemic has spread to 49 out of 50 states in America.

Many people have questioned why a power in science and technology, in terms of financial capacity like the US could not control COVID-19 after nearly 9 months of fighting the pandemic.

Why has the United States not been able to control the COVID-19 epidemic?

And scientists have pointed out a number of reasons:

The first challenge is that COVID-19 is now not only targeting the elderly, with the same underlying illness as in March, but also targeting young people. The unpredictable changes of the virus also cause 20-40% of infected people to have no symptoms to recognize and they accidentally spread the disease to the community.

Second, because it is so large, it is difficult for the US to apply uniform and consistent anti-epidemic standards and each state government takes the initiative in planning its own epidemic control.

Third, for many years, the federal public health budget for the states has been cut, so when a pandemic occurs, many states do not have the financial resources to fight the epidemic immediately.
