Managers at La Margarita Hospital in the city of Puebla said while accepting the “body” of a newborn baby and handing it over to his parents for funeral, they found that the child was still breathing and still alive.

The recorded video then shows the baby’s father mercifully watching his crying son and encouraging him to be strong, through the dangerous period to survive. “Here you are. Keep fighting, son, do your best to love my father“, the father assured me.

The baby was born at 4:29 a.m. on October 21 and was saved at around 10:00 on the same day. Doctors thought that this baby could not survive because the mother was born prematurely at 23 weeks of pregnancy. The baby is currently monitored in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Miguel Angel Flores, owner of the Flores funeral, said he was shocked to see the baby alive. Flores said: “When we got there, we realized the boy was crying and moving. We called the baby’s father and he also saw the baby was crying. So we got the doctor to sign the death certificate. It was almost six hours in the morgue’s freezer, I can’t understand how the baby was still alive while there This cooler was used to hold amputated limbs of people with I have never encountered something like that.

IMSS, a governmental health care organization in Mexico, announced it was investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the scandal is also causing a wave of outrage on social media. One Twitter user called La Margarita Hospital “useless”, “irresponsible”. Another said that this hospital should be sued.
