6-year-old boy fighting every day with cancer

Illume – Khanh Duy got cancer when he was 3 years old. Since then, the disease has metastasized all over that little body. In order to survive,he had to remove one kidney.

In August, the hottest time of the year, we visited the family of Mr.Ho Tinh Thach (born in 1990) and Ms. Ho Thi Lieu (born in 1996, residing in Ben Ha village, Linh Truong commune, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province).

When being children, due to their family’s difficulties, they did not get much education. Both are still not stable jobs. They married in 2013, property at that time only had 1Ha of field left by his parents.

In 2014, Ms.Lieu gave birth to Duy and in 2018, Duy Khoa was born. Since getting married, Ms.Lieu has stayed at home to take care of housework and take care of her 2 young children. Anh Thach works as a worker, earning about 150,000 VND / day.

Mr. Thach and his wife soon got used to the hard work, so both did not complain, just wanted to be healthy to take care of their children.

After years of being married, they have saved 50 million VND, hoping to build a small house to cover the sun and rain. But when they learned that their child had cancer, that dream fell apart.

When he was 3 years old, one day, Khanh Duy suddenly had a fever. He could not pull his legs together. Too uncomfortable, he kept crying and screaming all day. Even though his parents tried to comfort him, he wouldn’t eat. Seeing the abnormality, Mr.Thach and his wife  took their children to Hue Central Hospital for examination.

After spending 3 months in the hospital with 2 painful lymph node incisions in the neck, Duy was informed by the doctors that he had neuroblastoma (malignant cancer).

They borrowed 170 million VND, hoping to cure their child’s dangerous illness. Any doubt, now the money has run out but the disease has not progressed.

Mr. Thach spent more time at the hospital than at home. There was a year when he and Duy went through Tet holiday in the hospital.

Currently, Duy is allowed to rest home but he has to, regularly every month, go to Hue to re-visit according to the appointment. The disease has metastasized through the pelvis and spine, so Duy can hardly do everything.

Hope that everyone will support Duy so that he can overcome this dangerous disease.
