Bill Gates says he’ll fly a lot less and eat more synthetic meat to fight climate change

In billionaire Bill Gates’ latest Ask Me Anything on Reddit on the evening of March 19, one asked the Microsoft cofounder what could people do to reduce carbon emissions. Bill Gates advises people to consume less.

“So what are you doing to consume less?” Asked another.

“I’m driving an electric car. My house uses solar panels. Sometimes, I eat synthetic meat. I buy green aviation fuel. I pay for Climeworks direct gas collection (DAC) technology. I help finance affordable residential electric heat pumps to replace natural gas, ” Gates replied.

“I plan to fly a lot less, after the pandemic proves that we are fine with less flights,” he added.

In November last year, Gates also predicted that more than half of business trips will disappear after the pandemic ends. Microsoft created a Teams app that allows meeting and chatting via video calls. Gates left Microsoft’s board of directors last year. However, he still holds shares in the group and participates in evaluating the company’s products.

The Microsoft cofounder also mentioned programs aimed at promoting green efforts. “For me, innovation is about providing services to people without emissions,” he said.

After withdrawing from Microsoft’s leadership, Bill Gates and his wife – Mrs. Melinda – focused their time on charity work related to the fields of education, health, and the environment. When the pandemic broke out, Bill Gates and his wife were considered one of the pioneers to donate hundreds of millions of dollars to epidemic prevention, research and vaccine production. Bill Gates is currently the world’s third richest person with a fortune of $ 126 billion, behind Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Elon Musk of Tesla.
