Thailand Readies Coronavirus Vaccine Trials On Humans

Thailand’s domestic vaccine was developed by the Government of Thailand Pharmaceutical Agency (GPO) in collaboration with Mahidol University’s Department of Tropical Medicine and an American NGO.

According to the plan, there will be 460 volunteers selected to participate in the trial process, of which 210 will participate in phase 1, phase 2 will start in July next and the test results will be announced later this year.

Speaking to the press, Thai Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul affirmed: “The most important thing is that we will be free to administer vaccines from start to finish. We will have vaccines owned by our country, reducing our dependence on foreign supplies. This is not technology transfer, but we are building technology to improve the availability of vaccines, as well as the public health system in Thailand. “

The Thai government is aiming to vaccinate about 50% of the country’s population by the end of this year with 61 million doses of imported vaccine from the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca./.
