In an interview with Interview magazine, Cardi B confided to diva Mariah Carey about her years of being bullied because of her skinny appearance. As a teen, Cardi did not have the same curves as many of her peers. The mockery of everyone, especially the boys, made her feel “ugly”.
“When I was a teenager, I used to be a skinny girl. In the Bronx (New York), you had to be full and have a butt with a chest to get it right. Guys would scoff: ‘Look at your flat chest!’.That made me feel ugly”. Cardi B said. “When I was 18 years old and I became a dancer, I had enough money to have breast augmentation surgery. So my breast insecurity was gone. Then at the age of 20, I worked at a club. Striptease in the city – where they like girls with big ass. The continued self-deprecation that makes me decide to do butt and then feel super confident.”
Cardi B spent several years making a living as a stripper. She then quit this job to pursue her passion for music. In 2017, Cardi became a phenomenon in the rap industry with the single Bodak Yellow. The song entered the top two Billboard Hot 100 charts of the US and topped the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Up to now, Cardi B has been the second most famous female rapper in the world, has millions of followers on Instagram and has a dream body. However, the 28-year-old beauty confessed that she still had some insecurity about herself. “I used to be shy and still never got over it,” Cardi said.
The singer is currently married to hip-hop star Offset and the couple has two-year-old daughter Kulture. Once confessed to being a love-loving and very loyal girl, Cardi B has repeatedly ignored Offset’s ecstasy and is happy with his marriage.
