Speaking at the ceremony, Italian Consul General Enrico Padula reiterated the friendship between Italy and Vietnam, when Italy was the first Western European country to recognize diplomatic relations with Vietnam right after the Paris Agreement in 1973. The Italian Consul General expressed that over the past 50 years, the relationship between the two countries has developed constantly not only in the diplomatic and political fields but also in the economic, cultural, and social fields.
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy, an important milestone in the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries. Primarily, since establishing the strategic partnership in 2013, Vietnam and Italy have achieved many significant achievements in politics, economy, culture, society, and people-to-people exchanges.
This year, there were many welcoming activities such as visiting the Italian navy ship after more than 20 years in Ho Chi Minh City, the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries was solemnly held at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, guests attending the 2023 Italian National Day celebration in Ho Chi Minh City will also have the opportunity to visit two impressive photo exhibitions including an exhibition depicting key moments in 50 years of building diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy, and an exhibition of images representing the diversity of the city of Rome.
