Chicken Marinated In Apple Cider Vinegar

This easy apple cider vinegar chicken is my go-to grilled chicken recipe because it’s simple, versatile, and delicious! Serve immediately or use the grilled chicken to prepare meals throughout the week.

This is an oldie but a goodie, and I’m so excited about giving it new photos and a slight makeover because Isaac and I make it ALL THE TIME. Additionally, it’s delectable!

To be completely honest, when it comes to meal prep, I typically stick to shredded chicken. My slow cooker shredded chicken method is incredibly simple and versatile, as it can be used in a variety of recipes, including soups, casseroles, and chicken salad. However, for salads and meal prep bowls, I typically prefer grilled chicken. It has a stronger flavor and a smoother texture, which I prefer. That is why I began making this apple cider vinegar-marinated grilled chicken.

What You’ll Need:

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts – I prefer boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe, but you may substitute any other chicken cut. Additionally, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can experiment with different protein options when making this marinade.
  • Apple cider vinegar – this aids in tenderizing the meat and imparts an incredible flavor.
  • Italian seasoning – Italian seasoning is one of my favorite spice blends and it complements this recipe perfectly.
  • Olive oil – this helps infuse the meat with flavor and keeps it from sticking to the grill.
  • A pinch of sea salt and freshly ground pepper – to bring all of the flavors together.

The Perfect Marinade is Apple Cider Vinegar

If you’ve been reading for a while, you’re probably aware that apple cider vinegar is my jam and that I use it frequently in cooking. It’s incredibly flavorful and nutrient-dense.

Needless to say, we always keep a jar of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar on hand, and we discovered a few years ago that it’s fantastic for marinating all kinds of meat and seafood. It’s delicious with chicken, salmon, and even steak! It not only assists in tenderizing the meat but also imparts a wonderful flavor to it.

How Long Should the Chicken Marinate?

I like to keep things simple with the chicken and use a mixture of apple cider vinegar, Italian seasoning, olive oil, salt, and pepper. I marinate the chicken for at least an hour and up to 12 hours, but 30 minutes will suffice if you’re in a hurry.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together vinegar, Italian seasoning, oil, salt, and pepper until well combined. Chicken breasts should be placed in a shallow dish or a 1-gallon sealable plastic bag.
  2. Toss in the marinade and chill for at least 1 hour or up to 12 hours. Remove chicken from marinade, shaking off excess marinade, and discarding the remaining marinade.
  3. A grill or grill pan should be preheated. Once the grill is hot, place the chicken on it and cook for approximately 5 minutes per side, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
  4. You can also broil the chicken if you don’t have a grill. Coat a broiler pan (or a baking sheet) with cooking spray and line it with foil. Arrange the chicken in a single layer on the foil. Broil, watching carefully to prevent it from burning. After approximately 5 minutes, flip the chicken. Allow to cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center.
  5. Consume chicken immediately or allow it to cool slightly before packaging in storage containers and storing for later use.
