Chinese people rushed to test the COVID-19 vaccine

Coming from very early, people from different cities of China have one thing in common: They do not mind the long distance, sometimes up to a thousand kilometers, to receive the experimental COVID-19 vaccine at a small local hospital in the city of Yi O, Zhejiang province. It is one of the first to test the COVID-19 vaccine in China. The news spread quickly, and immediately some people were ready to cross the road here to be vaccinated.

“This is very important to you, right? Yes, because if I get vaccinated, I will be safer to go abroad to work,” said one Chinese resident.

This woman, who works as an import-export job in Chile, is eager to get vaccinated so that she can safely return to work in Chile – which is the COVID-19 hotspot in the Americas.

However, those eager to come here to get the vaccine were disappointed, because the hospital announced it was out of vaccine. The distribution of the vaccine is only for those with special export needs and must be approved in advance, local authorities said.

The COVID-19 vaccine distributed at the hospital in Nghia O city was developed by Sinovac Biotechnology company, which is still in phase 3 clinical trial. Once approved and distributed It costs about 60 USD, equivalent to 1.4 million VND for the 2 required injections.

Meanwhile, with these residents, they go to another vaccine testing site in China, even though their case may not require urgent approval.
