The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza plane caused a catastrophic accident for the mother and baby in the car, killing them. The identities of the two deaths were not disclosed, according to two television stations Fox News and RT.
The plane took off around 3pm from North Perry Airport, not long after it crashed in Pembroke Pines City 40 kilometers north of Miami, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
A video taken from the security camera of a nearby house captured the accident. Footage shows the plane crashing its first nose into a car before it slips on the street. A fireball flared as the plane broke into pieces.
One witness, Anabel Fernandez, told a CBS TV reporter: “We heard a loud noise like a bomb exploding, everything caught fire and it crashed into a car. I live right here and walk with my kids every day. The plane could crash into us. I’m shocked.”
Photos of the aftermath of the crash have also appeared, depicting an overturned SUV and wreckage scattered around the area, as well as the image of the plane itself seen in the air bubbles after the fire brigade put out the flames.
While the cause of the crash has yet to be determined, the Pembroke Pines City Fire Department said the pilot had previously reported an engine failure. In addition to the local government, both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board said they would investigate the incident.
