Record of more than 12,500 new cases of COVID-19 during the day in Iran

Health Ministry spokesperson Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people infected with COVID-19 in the country increased to more than 762,000 after recording an additional 12,543 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus on November 15. According to Sima Sadat Lari, of the new infections discovered since November 14, 2,544 people have been hospitalized. Sima Sadat Lari noted, among COVID-19 patients being treated in medical facilities today, more than 5,600 people are in critical health conditions.

Currently, the number of fatalities caused by COVID-19 in Iran is nearly 41,500. This pandemic has claimed the lives of 459 patients in the past 24 hours.

Over 558,800 patients recovered from infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus or were discharged from hospitals across Iran. More than 5.5 million COVID-19 diagnostic tests have been performed in Iran to date, Ms. Lari said.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 worldwide has surpassed 54.7 million cases, of which over 1.32 patients died. Iran is currently the country most severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Middle East. It is known that from November 21, Iran will start to apply many new control measures. In the capital Tehran and nearly 100 other Iranian towns and cities, nonessential services and businesses will be closed. Cars are not allowed in and out of big cities.
