As we are all familiar with “Barbie”, a franchise famously known for its fashion dolls and is a familiar brand tied to a lot of childhood memories of the people around us. For many, Barbie isn’t just a simple children’s toy but it’s also a lifestyle because of how iconic it is, people cannot get enough of “Barbie” and the staple pink color makes us all a little too captivated whenever we pick up their dolls on the toy rack.

Mattel is an American multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment company that made many other famous toy brands like Hot Wheels, American Girl, UNO, etc. They also produce a line of 3D cartoons for Barbie in the early 2000s, the first Barbie movie they ever made was “Barbie the Nutcracker” and the series only kicked off since then. The movie stars Barbie as our main protagonist with her sidekicks where they tried to save their friends and families from harm, the movie also touches on many subjects and has a variety of themes from modern-day to fairytale-inspired stories so that everyone and anyone can enjoy them without getting tired of the series.

The Barbie animated movies made a return earlier this year with the rise of the 2000s aesthetic coming back full blast on many social media platforms. People born during the era when the Barbie movies were popular, especially Gen Zs and Millenials, started to embrace this forgotten gem that was overshadowed by other big blockbuster movies during the time. The undeniable charm that this movie franchise has on many of us brought back many nostalgic memories of when life was simpler and child-like joy whenever we see Barbie and her friends on our TV screen.

The old Barbie films occupy a particular space deep in our minds for many of us when it plays an integral role for those who grew up watching them. With the live-action Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie releasing in theatre soon in 2023, the Barbie craze has gone to a new height as audiences are completely stoked with an official adaption from Warner Bros themselves. While there were many media both directly and indirectly inspired by Barbie, fans are definitely excited when they can officially catch their idol on the big screen next summer with her iconic hot pink convertible and trademark smile. There aren’t as many details about the movie, not until later this year, but this is definitely worth waiting for as many fans and general audiences are looking forward to this movie.

Barbie has become a cultural icon for many years, as she has taken over the world in her own rights, something about Barbie that is so memorable and iconic. Growing up with Barbie has been a blast, she is always and forever in the moment. We often see barbie as too hyper-feminine but there is also an unspoken power about her that we cannot tame, Barbie’s statement is “girls can do anything”, which represents that women can be able to overcome any obstacle on their path and have the control of their own body and life, that’s what we should thrive for.
