The number of people positive for COVID-19 in Belgium doubled in just 5 days

Starting on October 14, part of the Kingdom of Belgium was placed under curfew against the COVID-19 epidemic. Specifically, from 1am on October 14, the curfew took effect in Walloon Brabant and Luxembourg provinces of the Kingdom of Belgium. People are prohibited from leaving their homes until 6am. Only doctors, nurses and police are allowed to move around during this time.

The rate of virus infection in the Kingdom of Belgium is very high, especially in these two provinces. On average, more than 600 people out of 100,000 people are infected, more than 50% are under 29 years old. The governor of Luxembourg province of Belgium said that the youth gatherings and gatherings were the main reason leading to this increase.

Any events on Halloween and all Saints’ feasts taking place in late October and early November will be banned. A 24-hour alcohol ban was also issued, along with previously imposed measures such as banning people’s markets, closing shops and forced to wear masks on the street.

The COVID-19 pandemic is making a violent outbreak in Belgium. The country has only 11 million people but more than 10,000 people died from the pandemic and nearly 2% of the population was infected with COVID-19.
