“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs never accepts this type of testing and objected directly to [China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs] when we learned that some of the employees had to do this test,” a Foreign Ministry spokesman US delivery announced to CNN said Thursday.

“We are assured by [China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs] that the case was due to negligence, and diplomatic staff are exempt from doing such tests. We have directed staff to refuse this testing if they have been asked to do (as before), ” the statement added.

The Chinese ministry stated it was not aware of the Covid-19 test by anal swiping.

“As far as I know, and also asked my colleagues, China has never asked American diplomats in China to do anal tests,” Mr. Trieu Lap Kien, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed in a daily press conference Thursday.

The US diplomat told CNN that US officials in China “negotiate with the Chinese side for a while” to prevent US diplomats from being tested like that.

Over the past few weeks, Chinese state media have reported that COVID-19 tests with anal swabs are being used in some cases.

Some doctors and studies in China claim that this method gives more accurate results than swiping the nose or throat.
