Eating iron-rich foods can help replenish levels of the mineral in the blood. Foods that contain plenty of iron include:

Stay hydrated
Donating blood removes fluids from the body. You need to refill it if you want to recover quickly. The American Red Cross recommends drinking an extra 4 glasses, or 32 ounces, of liquid in the first 24 hours after donating blood.

Certain food substances and nutrients interact with the absorption of iron. Make sure you do not consume such foods with iron-containing foods. Such as:

- Milk
- Curd
- Cottage cheese
- Tea
- Coffee
- Chocolate
- Red wine
