Why having a crush is an absolutely brilliant idea!

Crushing on other people is a very common occurrence in everyone’s lives. Here’s why having a crush is an absolutely brilliant idea!

Having a crush isn’t just a childhood game of pretend. It’s the experience of finding the person you want to identify with, only to have them start acting like someone you’re not attracted to at all. And that’s OK – because this is something everyone experiences from time to time, even if it’s only for a short period of time.

Nothing beats the feeling of having blood rushed to your face, daydreaming about them daily, and feeling the butterflies in your stomach. There’s nothing to be ashamed of with you having some degree of infatuation with other people. We all, in fact, have experienced it at some point in our lives and it’s completely healthy

1. Why having a crush is the best feeling ever?

Crushing on other people can be a different experience depending on each individual, some might develop feelings for someone who is completely unattainable or inappropriate. However, we can all agree on the fact that having a crush opens you up and familiarize you with feelings that you have never experienced before.

Your mind is now occupied with another person, your life is also adjusting to their schedule, and you probably would do anything for a crumb of their attention though, not going to lie. The feeling of being “vaguely” in love provides you with more chores and tasks to do in a day like stalking them on social media, paying attention to the smallest details going on with their lives, and fantasizing about having a full-blown relationship with them if you are into that.

Having crushes can be short-lived because sometimes the thing that they do can make you develop an “ick” (an unnerving and cringe feeling about a romantic interest that might deter you from seeing this person again). Nevertheless, having a crush on someone will create a boost in our daily lives, it’s like you have something to look up to day by day, decrease your loneliness, and boost morale

2. How do you enjoy the process of having a crush?

It’s quite simple actually, let your feelings guide you through the process but do not do anything too irrational that can cause harm to you and your crush. Enjoy your time, and if you think you can court them (if they are still single of course), go for it. If not, respect their boundaries and move on with your life.

The process of having a crush can be quick, and fast-paced. Nothing will guarantee that you still have feelings for them after a while so appreciate it while you can. The best feeling about this is you can feel the rush, the adrenaline, and the fast beating of your heart makes everything way more exciting than it seems.

Crush culture is a very recent terminology describing the boom of people developing crushes and falling in love at a quick rate. Keep in mind that while it’s ok to have a crush and it’s ok to express your feelings to them but if it’s not meant to be, let it go.

3. Is having a crush way better than being in a relationship?

Crushing on someone is more of an act of fantasy and it is very different from being in a serious relationship with another person. Relationships require commitment, dedication, time, and energy while having a crush, in some situations, can prolong for a period of time but they often don’t end up with anything too serious or damaging. You can stop crushing on someone and move on with your life, but having to break up with a certain person from a relationship can be very emotionally devastating, you can take a way longer time to recover, and get back on your feet again.

The downside of having a crush is most likely you won’t get your feelings reciprocated every time, this can cause mental distress and affect your daily performance by hyperfixating on something that’s not guaranteed.

Not everyone is ready for a relationship, some are not mature enough or it’s just very inconvenient for them to be tied down to a relationship. It’s no joke getting into a relationship and there’s a lot going on in your body when you fall in love. Not to undermine relationships, but the gist is not everyone is available and can open their hearts to someone. It can be due to past traumas that cause someone to be so closed off.

Having a crush and being in a relationship has both its advantages and disadvantages, one thing is not better than the other. Only you can choose the path to reach fulfillment, a relationship and a crush don’t make you whole, so live your life to the fullest and consider these things a way to spice up your life if you have one.
