Wreckage and ‘suspected body parts’ found after Boeing 737 carrying 62 crashes in sea

The Directorate of Maritime Transport, the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, said debris and other items were found to be the emergency exit ladder for the front door of the plane and other parts of the plane. According to the National Search and Rescue Agency, Swiwijaya Airlines Boeing 737 bearing number SJ 182 fell between Lancang Island and Laki Island, in the Thousand Islands waters 4 minutes after takeoff in Jakarta Capital.

The water depth at this site is estimated to be 20-23 meters. The agency said no emergency signals were emitted from the plane’s emergency positioning transmitter, number SJY182 on the Jakarta-Pontianak route. The plane was reduced to more than 10,000 feet (more than 3,000 m) in just one minute. On board there are 62 passengers and crew, including children and infants.

According to preliminary information, all passengers are Indonesian nationals. FlightRadar24 data shows that the 26-year-old out of touch aircraft belongs to the Boeing 737 – 500 family. The Indonesian army and police have mobilized forces and set up the Crisis Center at Soekarno Hatta Airport to collect data related to finding the victims.
