Climate change: Thailand is preparing to respond to the Molave storm

Although the Molave storm weakens to a tropical storm when it hits the northeastern provinces of Thailand, it is expected that it will cause heavy rains in many areas.

The Thai Irrigation Office has recommended that people living around six of the largest reservoirs … prepare safety measures in case the amount of water in the lakes rises as a result of the Molave storm.

Predictably, Molave storms can cause flooding and landslides, the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas, at the same time, there will be strong waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand with waves of 2-3 meters. Fishing boats are urgently advised to seek safe shelter, small fishing boats are required to stay ashore.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department said that Molave storms were in the middle of the South China Sea and were moving west-northwest at a speed of about 30 km/h. Hurricane Molave will become a tropical storm before it hits Thailand. Heavy rain and strong winds will appear in some areas of Thailand from October 28 to October 30.
